When Chelsea are targeting a player, there’s only one person you want to hear from – Fabrizio Romano.
There are many imitators, but the Italian insider remains number one for Premier League transfers, and hearing your club mentioned by him is a sure way of knowing you’re at least in the mix.
So in the case of Dean Huijsen, the rangy 19 year old Bournemouth central defender who has taken the league by storm this year, Chelsea fans will be simply delighted to hear their club named in the mix. The club need a dominant defender to lead them into the future, and Huijsen looks like he could be that man:
“For sure the most interesting case will be the one of Dean Huijsen – as revealed more than two months ago, he has a release clause of £50m, and he’s going to leave Bournemouth in the summer. There is interest from Real Madrid – yes. There have been many rumours from Spain, but at the moment Real Madrid have still not decided whether they want to invest in a centre-back or not,” Romano said the CaughtOffside Daily Briefing.
“That’s why, at the moment, Dean Huijsen is leaning towards a move internally, in the Premier League. He’s expected to continue in the Premier League, but at a different club. There is interest from several clubs Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle – these four are surely in the race. Bayern have also been calling for weeks and weeks, but another Premier League club looks like being the most realistic destination.”

Clearly Liverpool aren’t out of the race, even with Virgil Van Dijk having signed a new deal. They will provide a real threat to us during this chase, as will Madrid if they decide to get involved. While Huijsen may prefer a Premier League move for now, that stance won’t last long if Los Blancos get into gear.
