Roma’s decision to keep Manu Kone was met with palpable enthusiasm from the fans whose great fear was losing the French midfielder in an unexpected turn of events.
SiamolaRoma.it explains the process that led to Roma deciding on keeping Kone and rejecting Inter’s advances.
Those who had assumed the Frenchman’s move to Appiano Gentile was a given clearly hadn’t considered a factor that has often upended market logic and certainties in recent years: the Friedkins.
The American owners have been evaluating the real possibility of selling a key player in the Giallorossi midfield in recent hours, both for financial reasons—Inter failed to offer the club’s asking price of approximately €50 million—and for environmental reasons—the fans have reacted with furious reactions on all official accounts of the club and the Texan group—but also for technical reasons.
The relationship between Gasperini and the owners is direct, frank, and sincere. The Giallorossi coach has made it clear to the club that losing Konè now, just days before the transfer window opens, would pose a problem for the team’s balance, not only tactically but also emotionally.
For this reason, Roma, as a whole, has communicated to Inter its definitive refusal to negotiate the transfer of the player, who in the meantime had informally received a decidedly significant contract offer worth approximately €4.5 million plus bonuses per season until 2030.
Manu Koné will therefore not leave Roma. Much to everyone’s delight, especially the thousands of fans who would not have welcomed such a move just eight days before the league debut.
