Uruguay's World Cup build-up has been hit by fitness problems, with Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo suffering a calf injury in training.
According to Coluna Do Fla, he underwent intensive treatment in Spain over the weekend and returns to the squad on Tuesday, the day the group travel to the United States.
His situation mirrors that of Arrascaeta, who sustained a calf muscle injury after beginning on-pitch work for the tournament. The Uruguay staff chose to keep him in the squad after a diagnosis that almost led to his withdrawal.
Flamengo criticised the Uruguayan federation's approach, issuing a statement on Sunday about Arrascaeta's recovery. The midfielder had been rehabilitating from clavicle surgery after a fracture in May. The club said essential medical protocols were ignored, despite allowing their No 10 to continue treatment under national-team supervision.
The club sent physiotherapist Laniyan Neves to join Uruguay's backroom staff for the World Cup. He is now accompanying Arrascaeta and overseeing his recovery abroad to ensure medical guidance is followed, with the player's status remaining under observation.
