Ronald Araújo says he would never play for Grêmio as an Inter fan | OneFootball

Ronald Araújo, the Barcelona and Uruguay centre-back, says he would never play for Grêmio because he supports Inter.

"Grêmio, pois sou torcedor do Inter," he said when asked which club he would not represent, in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

Born in Rivera, on the border with Santana do Livramento, he has previously discussed his ties to Inter.

Before moving to Spain, he played for Boston River and Rentistas in Uruguay.

Now 26, Araújo joined Barcelona in 2018, starting with the B team before making his senior debut the following year. He has since featured in almost 200 matches.

For the national team he has 25 appearances. He was called up for the 2022 World Cup but did not play in the first three group games, when Uruguay were eliminated, as he was returning from injury and was not fully fit.
