Roony Bardghji was among the FC Barcelona players who reported for preseason medical examinations on Monday, officially marking the start of the club’s preparations for the new campaign.

Since the 20-year-old did not feature for Sweden during the World Cup, he returned with the first group of available players at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

Bardghji on his future

As he left the training ground around midday, Bardghji stopped to sign autographs for supporters waiting outside.

When asked whether he had already spoken with head coach Hansi Flick and whether he expected to remain at Barcelona, the Swedish winger offered a brief but positive response.

“Everything’s fine, everything’s fine,” he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

An uncertain future

Despite his optimistic comments, Bardghji remains one of the players whose future is yet to be fully resolved.

His first season at Barcelona proved to be a period of adaptation as he adjusted to a new club and playing style while primarily serving as backup to Lamine Yamal.

Across all competitions, Bardghji made 28 appearances, contributing two goals and four assists.

With Lamine Yamal firmly ahead in the pecking order at the Spotify Camp Nou, and Barça now signing Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, the Swedish international’s situation is unlikely to improve in the coming season.

Interest from several Premier League clubs

In recent weeks, several clubs have been linked with a move for the young attacker, with the strongest interest reportedly coming from the Premier League.

Among the teams said to be monitoring his situation are Leeds United, Aston Villa, Sunderland, and Brighton.

For now, however, Bardghji remains a Barcelona player and is focused on pre-season under Hansi Flick, having successfully completed his first medicals today.

His contract with the club runs until 2029, leaving the Blaugrana in a strong position as they evaluate the next step in his development.

The 20-year-old youngster remains highly rated by the Catalan club, and as such, a loan exit or a permanent departure with a buyback clause could be in store in the coming weeks.
