Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji has spoken to the club’s networks following his appearance against Sevilla, reflecting on both his personal journey and his arrival at Barça.
The 19-year-old revealed that Pedri has impressed him the most.
“I had seen him on television, but seeing him in real life is very different,” Bardghji said, calling the midfielder a ‘magician’.
Reflecting on joining Barcelona, Bardghji admitted it was a long-held dream. “Something I always dreamed of. I had to trust that one day I would be here,” he said.
He recalls the moment his parents told him about the signing: it left him ‘frozen’ but ultimately “very happy.”
The young winger also explained the inspiration behind his first pre-season goal celebration, stating, “I had done it before, and we were in Asia, so it was the perfect opportunity.”
Bardghji has been equally impressed by Barcelona’s stadium renovations. “I don’t know how to describe it, but it is an incredible stadium.
“Of course, the old Camp Nou was too, but this looks amazing. I can’t wait for it to be finished and to play there,” he said, expressing excitement about the future.
Looking back at his childhood, the Swede attributes his early love for Barcelona to his father. Shown images of himself wearing a Barça shirt as a kid, he said,
“He started watching Barça two years before I was born.
“When Messi started playing, he fell in love with him, and when I was born, he always wanted me to watch him and learn from him,” he explained.
For the 19-year-old, it is evident that joining Barcelona is the fulfilment of a dream nurtured from childhood, inspired by family and footballing idols.
