Algerian international Roselène Khezami has condemned what she calls an unfair demotion at OM. The left back said in a social media post on Saturday night that the situation is a real nightmare.
Khezami, 24, captained Marseille last season as they won promotion to the top flight. She said this campaign began well with regular minutes, before her status abruptly changed in February, when she came on in the 62nd minute and was substituted in the 73rd.
Over the following month, she accumulated only three minutes of playing time. A Marseille native, she said she was excluded from the squad for the first OM women’s match at the Vélodrome against Montpellier, a fixture she had long awaited, and that no sporting explanation was given.
Her message followed goalkeeper Chloé N'Gazi publicly denouncing her own exclusion at OM in late February, before departing for Montpellier.
After the defeat by Montpellier, coach Corinne Diacre said there were no suspensions or injuries and that she had to make choices, seeking balance and not too many defensive profiles. Khezami added that she considers the situation profoundly unjust, yet she will remain professional despite being deeply affected.
