Chelsea are planning a change-up in their transfer strategy this summer, in response to their struggles this season. Liam Rosenior explained a little about what the Blues had in mind about who they wanted to sign:
“Bringing players with emotional stability. Bringing good characters in who, in difficult moments, can understand what it takes to win in those difficult moments,” the manager explained.
“We’ve had great conversations. I’ve had conversations with the ownership, with directors about what we do in the summer.”
It’s all very promising, but you’ll forgive us for not getting too excited just yet. This shouldn’t be something that is being figured out 4 years and £2bn into this project, this should have been on page one of the strategy document.
Better late than never, they say. But could it be too late at this point? It’s certainly too late for this season. It will also be hard to get fans back onside after admitting to this catastrophic failure in long term planning and squad building.
Rosenior said he wished Cucurella hadn’t gone public with his comments – but that’s rather missing the point of them.
There was good injury news from the press conference too, where Rosenior confirmed two attackers are fit to play tomorrow.
