Poor Liam Rosenior is seeing his team beaten in game after game, then has to go out and address the problems in press conferences.

It’s hard to tell what the bigger problem is right now – the bad defending or the bad attacking. Rosenior was asked about this, and interestingly he was pretty clear cut in his answer.

Rosenior picks dodgy defence over misfiring attack as biggest problem

“Good question. I think if you want to win games, you have to make sure you keep clean sheets. It’s the hallmark of every team. We have players, outstanding players, who can score goals in key moments. It hasn’t happened recently, but what’s disappointed me has been the goals we’ve conceded.

“We have to give ourselves a platform in the game to give confidence to our attacking players that they can go and do what they do best. You can’t win every game scoring two or three goals, and that’s something that we need to address very, very quickly, is to stop the goals we’ve conceded.”

We’d have to agree – the attacking hasn’t been good enough, but often our problem with scoring is that the opposition are defending a lead. If we were defending well, our games would be more open and our attackers might have better chances to score.

In other news…

Levi Colwill looks almost certain to play some Chelsea minutes before the end of the season, Liam Rosenior today confirmed.

Wesley Fofana stormed off the pitch on Saturday, and Rosenior has admitted this was a mistake by his defender, who has now apologised.
