The Millers endured an awful campaign, suffering relegation to the fourth tier alongside Exeter City, Port Vale, and Northampton Town, having earned just 10 wins in 46 league attempts.

Rotherham haven't been in League Two since winning promotion to League One back in 2013, and have often bounced between the Championship and the third tier in recent seasons.

The South Yorkshire club were plying their trade in the second tier as recently as the 2023/24 season, but the Championship feels a long way from them now.

Preston North End & Cardiff City learn of £1M price tag for versatile Rotherham United star

Rotherham's relegation to League Two means that they are likely to lose star players this summer, such as striker Sam Nombe, who notched 12 goals in 31 League One appearances this term.

However, selling assets is not all bad news for the Millers, who can recoup some handsome transfer fees while they need to oversee a rebuild.

According to the Rotherham Advertiser, the New York Stadium outfit have set an asking price of around £1million for Denzel Hall, who has attracted transfer interest from Preston North End among other clubs.

Hall joined the Millers from Dutch top-flight club Heerenveen last summer, and was a star performer for the S60 side, scoring three goals and registering one assist, having operated as both a wing-back and on the right-hand side of a back three.

The 24-year-old rose through the academy ranks at Feyenoord before going on to represent both ADO Den Haag and Heerenveen ahead of his aforementioned switch to Rotherham.

Transfer suitors Preston had eyed a Championship play-off spot earlier this term, but ultimately finished 14th in the second tier, earning 60 points from their 46 league games.

North End boss Paul Heckingbottom will be keen to establish more consistency next term, and will hope that acquiring Hall can help provide that.

According to Football Insider, Cardiff City are also interested in Hall, as the Bluebirds vie to build a squad who can keep them in the Championship after winning promotion from League One.

£1M Denzel Hall deal would represent great transfer business for Rotherham United

Rotherham need to acquire players who can help them win promotion from League Two following their relegation from League One, and selling Hall should help them to do that.

Acquiring a seven-figure sum for the versatile 24-year-old's services would represent a good deal for the Millers, as £1m can still go a long way in the fourth tier, amid the ever-changing financial landscape in football.

Meanwhile, the South Yorkshire outfit have key decisions to make away from the transfer market, as boss Lee Clark was only appointed on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Furthermore, as per the Rotherham Advertiser, a Swiss Consortium who attended the Millers' League One clash with Reading could either invest or buy the New York Stadium side.

The consortium is called the Bridge Football Group, and former Sheffield United player Dries Boussatta is their technical advisor.
