Roy Keane took aim at “some” England players following Saturday’s narrow win in Andorra, saying they looked “bored” during the Fifa World Cup qualifier.

The Three Lions created five big chances from 20 shots, but struggled to puncture the net as Chelsea winger Noni Madueke set up Harry Kane for the only goal of a tepid affair at the RCDE Stadium.

The results sees England remain top of Group K with three wins from their opening three fixtures in the campaign.

Keane implored the squad to be more clinical in front of goal to make an impression on Thomas Tuchel, who has only been national team head coach since the turn of the year.

“We try and make excuses for England with the end of the season and it’s been tough on the players. First-half was okay but when they scored the goal it was almost like it was job done,” the former Manchester United captain said on ITV’s post-match coverage.

“I was really disappointed with their attitude. The manager can’t be happy with that effort in the last half an hour.

“It looked like some of the players were bored in the last half an hour. Go and get some more goals and impress the manager who is still new to the job.

Tuchel admitted he was displeased with England’s attitude and lack of urgency late in the contest, insisting it’s not what he expects from his group.

“I am not happy with the performance, I think we started well in the first 20 or 25 minutes,” the German told ITV.

“We created a lot of chances and half chances, and we lost completely the momentum and couldn’t get it back in the first half. Got a little bit in the second half but then ended up in a place that was not good enough in terms of urgency.

“We can just admit it that it’s not what we expect from us. We need to look at it in detail and do better on Tuesday.”

Tuchel continued: “The message got across because we had a good 25 minutes but then the energy and the determination weren’t there anymore. Then it looks like it does.

“I was most worried in the last 20 minutes because I did not like the attitude that we ended the game with. I didn’t like the lack of urgency and it did not match the occasion. It is still a World Cup qualifier. We will let them know tomorrow what we want from them.”
