Ruben Amorim admits Juventus were better than AC Milan | OneFootball

AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that his team was dominated by Juventus when the two clubs met in Serie A last night, with Juve eventually rescuing a late draw in the fixture.

It was an impressive performance from the Bianconeri, who controlled much of the match and created opportunities but struggled to find the finishing touch. Their failure to convert those chances allowed Milan to take the lead against the run of play and put themselves in a strong position to claim all three points.

AC Milan are among the clubs expected to challenge for the league title this campaign, meaning Juventus knew they needed to produce a strong performance. The Bianconeri delivered that display for much of the match, but their inability to score almost cost them.

Juventus dominate despite Milan taking the lead

Juventus controlled possession for long periods and looked the more convincing side, but Milan remained capable of causing problems whenever they moved forward. The Rossoneri eventually found the opening goal despite having been second best for much of the contest.

The goal gave Amorim’s side an opportunity to secure an important victory, particularly because Juventus had struggled to turn their dominance into goals. However, the Bianconeri continued to push forward and refused to accept defeat.

It eventually took a late goal from Federico Gatti to deny Milan the win. The defender’s strike rescued a point for Juventus and reflected their superiority across much of the contest, even though they had failed to make that dominance count earlier.

Amorim admits Milan were second best

Amorim was honest about his team’s performance after the match, admitting that Juventus were the better side and that Milan were fortunate to remain in contention for victory. He also acknowledged that his players struggled to produce the level required during the fixture.

Speaking via Tuttojuve, Amorim said:

“Am I not satisfied? I’m not watching the game. I think Juventus were better than us, especially in possession. We were close to winning, and when a team doesn’t play well they still have to try to win but we didn’t succeed”.

The admission underlines just how strongly Juventus performed despite dropping points. The Bianconeri can take encouragement from their display, although they will know that greater efficiency in front of goal could have earned them all three points.
