Rudiger extends stay and fulfils Mourinho dream at Real Madrid | OneFootball

Antonio Rudiger will remain at Real Madrid for another season. The 33-year-old centre-back has signed a short-term contract until 30 June 2027 and will stay on as an option following the return of José Mourinho.

Although his contract was due to expire, a renewal with Rudiger was already expected. The German had even made clear his desire to work under the Portuguese coach in comments after the win over Curaçao at the World Cup.

"A coach like Mourinho is a dream for me, I want to work with him and I’m ready for the challenge," he said.

Rudiger is heading into his fifth year at Real Madrid. The 2025/26 season was the toughest yet for the defender, who featured in just 26 matches. In total, the German has played 182 games for the Madrid side, scoring eight goals and providing one assist.
