According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica have begun planning for 2026/27 despite not yet confirming who will coach next season. José Mourinho remains under contract, but his departure is viewed as likely, so Rui Costa and the hierarchy are already pushing ahead with strategic calls.

Shortlists have been drawn up for priority positions. Some of that work reflects guidance Mourinho left before his exit appeared almost inevitable, though formal moves still hinge on the choice of the next head coach.

Benfica are also preparing for potential high-value sales this summer. Vangelis Pavlidis, Richard Ríos and Andreas Schjelderup are considered the most valuable assets and could generate major income, with price points already defined, particularly after the 2026 World Cup.

Georgiy Sudakov and Franjo Ivanovic could also leave after seasons that fell short of expectations.

Immediate priority is a centre-back to replace Nicolás Otamendi, who has reached the end of his deal and will return to Argentina to join River Plate.
