Rui Pedro Silva is poised to quit Wolves and link back up with Nuno Espirito Santo at West Ham.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 49-year-old will not join Cesar Peixoto’s staff and is poised to move to their Championship rivals West Ham.
He previously served as Nuno’s assistant from 2017 to 2021, then returned last November after Rob Edwards became head coach.
Edwards was sacked last month after relegation from the Premier League, so Silva’s exit has come as little surprise.
He also worked with Nuno at Rio Ave, Valencia and Porto, then at Nottingham Forest until both were dismissed last September, though he did not initially follow him to the Hammers.
At West Ham, the pair will now try to plot an immediate Premier League return, with Wolves aiming to be among their main rivals.
Peixoto has been tasked with leading Wolves’ promotion push, with confirmation of his backroom team expected shortly. The 46-year-old plans to bring several staff from Gil Vicente, and has never managed outside Portugal.
Players not involved at the World Cup report back to Compton Park next week, then the squad heads to Portugal for a warm weather camp. Wolves open pre-season at Maidenhead United on Wednesday, July 22.
