Speculation surrounding Michael Olise and Real Madrid shows no signs of abating. While the French newspaper L’Équipe reports that the attacking star has clearly expressed a desire to leave—and the story is generating significant media buzz in Spain—FC Bayern remains steadfast in its position.
The report in L’Équipe caused a stir on Friday. Under the headline “Olise: Longing for Real,” the renowned French sports newspaper reports that the 24-year-old wants to leave Bayern Munich after two seasons and continue his career at Real Madrid.
According to the report, Olise has already shared his desire with several teammates on the French national team. He is also said to be waiting for talks with Bayern officials upon his return from the World Cup.
According to information from SPORT1, however, officials at Säbener Straße are not letting the reports from France rattle them. The report states that the Munich club intends to—and will—remain firm in any potential transfer negotiations.
Internally, the report states, the speculation is viewed as part of the usual transfer business. Nothing has changed in their fundamental stance: The German record champions do not want to let Olise go and continue to see the French international as an integral part of their sporting future.
There are also positive signs coming from within the French national team. According to SPORT1, Dayot Upamecano, in particular, is reportedly working hard to convince his Bayern teammate to stay in Munich.

Meanwhile, the reports from L’Équipe have also sparked widespread coverage in Spain. Real Madrid’s interest in the Bayern star has been an open secret for weeks. One factor behind this is the announcement by Real President Florentino Pérez that he intends to pull off a spectacular transfer this summer.
Whether the ongoing speculation will actually lead to concrete negotiations, however, remains to be seen. FC Bayern is in a comfortable position: Olise’s contract runs through 2029 and contains no buyout clause. Accordingly, the Munich club currently sees no reason to back down from its clear stance and is approaching the upcoming talks with its star forward with confidence.
