Ryan goal gives Under-20 winning start in Campeonato Paulista

São Paulo’s U-20 team opened their Campeonato Paulista campaign with a 1-0 win over Santo André this Friday at Bruno José Daniel Stadium in Santo André. The Tricolor’s goal was scored by forward Ryan. It was the player’s first goal since suffering a torn ligament in his left knee on July 15 last year.

The first half was closely contested, with Tricolor enjoying more possession and making good use of the flanks, but they were unable to break through the opposition defense.

In the second half, Júlio Baptista’s side came back even more focused and opened the scoring just eight minutes in. Lucyan received the ball on the right and delivered a perfect cross for Ryan to finish with quality and put his team ahead. Even with the lead, Tricolor kept attacking and had other chances, but could not extend the advantage.

Tricolor return to action next Thursday to face Red Bull Bragantino at CFA Laudo Natel at 3 p.m. in the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship. In the Paulista, their next match will be next Saturday, June 13, when they host Bandeirante, also in Cotia, at 3 p.m.
