FLW's West Brom fan pundit has given his verdict on Ryan Mason's future with the club
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
West Brom’s 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday last weekend has left the Baggies with just one win from their last five fixtures.
The Baggies have fallen down the Championship table in recent weeks, with pressure beginning to build on Ryan Mason.
The 34-year-old was appointed in the summer, making the move from Tottenham Hotspur’s coaching staff to take on his first role as the main man at a club.
The Midlands outfit are hoping that Mason can guide the team to a promotion push, having fallen from a fifth place finish to ninth in the table last season.
West Brom haven’t competed in the Premier League since 2021, with owner Shilen Patel keen to see the team back in the top flight for the first time since he took over the club.

When asked about the team’s form under Mason, FLW’s West Brom fan pundit Callum Burgess claimed that results and performances must improve this week to avoid any major decisions being made during the November international break.
He’s highlighted attacking issues as the major concern under Mason, suggesting a total lack of plan or pattern of play is a big concern during this tough run of form.
“I think that after the poor nature and lack of inspiration, imagination and creativity from the last few games, the Ipswich Town game, and the Sheffield Wednesday game, I think we’re very quickly entering make or break territory for Ryan Mason,” Burgess told Football League World.
“I think it’s three wins in the last 10, and when we’re trying to attack, the lack of inspiration that fans are getting from watching the team try to get forward.
“You can’t really see the patterns of play, or what the plan is at this moment in time.
“I think that, with the international break coming up, if there’s not an uptick in results or performance in these next few games against Charlton and Oxford, then I think that the pressure will be really on Ryan Mason and Shilen Patel to make a decision sooner rather than later.”
Mason has overseen five wins from his first 13 league games in charge of West Brom, leaving them 12th in the Championship.
Their last win came against Preston North End on 18 October, with the team since losing to Watford and Ipswich before drawing with the Owls last weekend.
Next up for Albion is a trip to face Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening in a 7.45pm kick-off at the Valley.
West Brom haven’t had the smoothest of starts to the new league season, but Mason has only had a few months with the team.
It would be a very drastic decision to cut ties just a few months after his appointment, especially as it hasn’t exactly been a disaster either.
There are still a lot of games left in the season, and West Brom are certainly still in the mix for the play-offs.
There are definitely some reasons to be concerned, particularly with the team’s attacking output, but it’s still too soon to suggest Mason needs to be replaced.
