Ryan Reynolds attended the World Cup on Friday as Wrexham's summer recruitment focus sharpened. According to Wales Online, the co-owner was at Toronto Stadium amid the club's plan to monitor players involved in the tournament.
Canada began their home campaign there with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday night.
Manager Phil Parkinson has said the World Cup could present transfer openings, with a handful of targets currently at the event. He added that staff are tracking them while they are in the United States.
Since returning to the Championship, Wrexham have widened their search beyond the domestic market to find upgrades. Last summer's arrival of New Zealand international Liberato Cacace underlined a willingness to recruit from abroad.
Parkinson stressed the need to balance the calibre of the leagues players come from with the demands of the Championship, and that nothing is being ruled out.
Wrexham's rise from non-league has been backed by investment and the Welcome to Wrexham series. They won three promotions in succession and finished seventh this season, missing the Championship play-offs by two points on the final day.
With the World Cup expanded to 48 teams for the first time, scouts across the game are expected to assess a broader pool. Co-owners Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have long stated their aim of taking the club to the Premier League.
