Flamengo face an impasse over 18-year-old forward Ryan Roberto, who is under contract until March 2027, after an offer from Shakhtar Donetsk. The club are attempting to renew his deal, but no agreement has been reached.
According to Globo.com, Flamengo do not wish to negotiate on the terms proposed, yet risk losing him for nothing, as from October he can sign a pre-contract elsewhere. CSKA, of Russia, have also shown interest and indicated they would top Shakhtar's bid.
Ryan Roberto made his senior debut in this year's Carioca across the first two matches fielded by academy players, but has had limited first-team minutes. In 2025 he scored 22 goals in 37 games, finishing as the club's top youth scorer. He was among the standouts as Flamengo reached the Libertadores Under-20 final this year.
Talks with Shakhtar have been ongoing for almost a month, with the Ukrainian club offering attractive terms and a place in the first team. The move is viewed favourably by the player's camp. Renewal remains under consideration, but he wants a clearer development plan and a realistic path to senior action.
At present, Flamengo plan to keep him at youth level without a defined pathway, and he has six goals and two assists for the Under-20s in 2026. Born in São Paulo, he started at the Paulistinha social project in Itaim Paulista and grew up in the Água Vermelha community. He joined Athletico-PR's academy aged 10, then moved to Flamengo in 2023 after three years in Curitiba.
