Senegal have become one of the latest nations to reveal their squad for this summer’s World Cup, although head coach Pape Thiaw still has a few big decisions to make before the tournament begins.

The Senegal boss has named an initial 28-man squad, meaning two players will eventually have to miss out as only 26 can travel to the competition. With 10 defenders and eight forwards included, those areas appear the most likely to see cuts before the final list is confirmed.

As expected, several experienced names remain at the heart of the squad. Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is once again set to lead the team, while veteran defender Kalidou Koulibaly and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy also feature.

There is room for exciting young talent too. Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr, still only 20, has earned a place alongside 18-year-old PSG attacker Ibrahim Mbaye, who continues to attract plenty of attention after his breakthrough season in France.

Senegal will once again fancy their chances of making an impact on the world stage as they look to build on their growing reputation in international football.
