FC Bayern has sent numerous players to the 2026 World Cup. Some of them have already performed at the highest level and are already in the knockout stage. Others, however, will have to hold their breath.
On Wednesday night, another current Bayern star took the field: Min-jae Kim for South Korea. He faced South Africa, and his team had actually been considered the favorite.
But the South Koreans, who had impressed in their first match against the Czech Republic but lost their second game against Mexico, were not playing at their best.
As a result, Kim and his team lost 0–1. This meant that South Africa overtook the Asian team in the standings.
And now, Kim and his South Korean team are even worried about advancing. South Korea finished third in the standings and must now hope that there are enough third-place teams that end up with weaker records. Given their rather meager haul of three points, however, that’s not guaranteed.
There was positive news from soon-to-be-Bayer player Ismael Saibari. The Moroccan, who has already passed his medical exam and digitally signed his contract, scored his third goal in his third match for Morocco.

With this, the midfielder once again underscored his tremendous abilities. It’s all the better that Bayern has already sealed the deal, as otherwise the transfer negotiations with PSV could have been significantly more complicated.
Alphonso Davies, who is fit and ready to play again, spent the entire 90 minutes on the bench for the Canadian national team on Wednesday evening. After the game, coach Jesse Marsch emphasized that he will be absolutely ready for the next match. The left-footed player’s comeback will therefore be postponed until the knockout round.
