Said El Mala ‘could stay’ at Köln after transfer rethink | OneFootball

With no move yet materialising, 19-year-old Said El Mala could now remain at 1. FC Köln for the coming season, despite expectations he would depart this summer.

According to Geissblog, the club are planning to keep him. Meanwhile, Bild reports the player is considering spending another year at the Bundesliga side.

El Mala could still leave in the coming weeks if a suitable club meets Köln’s €50 million asking price, but the club are no longer as reliant on generating a transfer fee.

Jakub Kamiński is close to joining SL Benfica for a reported €20 million, which would provide funds to strengthen the squad.

Earlier this summer, proposed moves to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford FC fell through.

Newcastle United, Liverpool FC and Borussia Dortmund have also been mentioned as suitors, but none appear to be showing concrete interest at the moment.
