Mohamed Salah is expected to feature again for Liverpool before the end of the season after the club confirmed his injury is not as serious as first feared.

Many people feared the worst when Salah came off during Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday.

The Egyptian international appeared to suffer a hamstring issue and was substituted in the 59th minute before applauding supporters around the stadium and heading straight down the tunnel.

The emotional nature of the moment sparked fears that the 33-year-old may have played his final game for the Reds following last month’s announcement that he will leave the club this summer.

However, Liverpool have now revealed the injury is only a minor muscle problem, and Salah will likely return before the campaign concludes.

Arne Slot’s side has four Premier League fixtures remaining as they continue their push to secure Champions League qualification.

Liverpool travel to Manchester United this weekend before hosting Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brentford in their final matches of the campaign.

While Salah now looks unlikely to feature at Old Trafford or against Chelsea, he could still make an appearance in the closing weeks of the season.

This would allow supporters the opportunity to say goodbye to one of the club’s modern greats.

The winger will leave Liverpool after a remarkable nine-year spell in which he has scored 257 goals in 435 appearances.

The former Chelsea and AS Roma star has helped the club win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

Liverpool’s final game of the season is against Brentford at Anfield on May 24, a fixture that could yet serve as Salah’s farewell appearance before he departs Merseyside.

Replacing him will be a top priority for sporting executives Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards this summer.
