Salma Paralluelo to leave Barcelona after rejecting new deal | OneFootball

Salma Paralluelo will leave Barcelona after her contract ended on Thursday. According to El Periódico, the 22-year-old rejected an improved extension. She departs after four seasons with the first team.

The decision was taken weeks ago, following a short break after the season and Spain duty. A revised offer did not persuade her to stay, and she weighed the option of remaining until the last moment.

She has many, and very strong, suitors in Europe and the United States. Paralluelo becomes the fourth confirmed exit after Alexia Putellas, Mapi León and Ona Batlle.

Paralluelo joined Barcelona in 2022, having previously combined football with athletics while at Villarreal. Moving to the city was a clear choice for football. Knee pain has recurred and forced her to stop at times.

Early this season she followed a physical reconditioning plan and, after months out, became important again for coach Pere Romeu. In late October she injured her left knee during a match for Spain after an accidental challenge by a Swedish opponent, suffering a partial tear of the lateral ligament.

She returned in January and her performances improved steadily. She scored twice in the Champions League final in Oslo, a brace that pushed Barcelona towards a fourth crown.
