RB Salzburg's move for VfB Stuttgart midfielder Mirza Catovic collapsed on Austria's deadline day, according to Sky Germany.

The deal is said to have broken down at the last minute after Stuttgart delayed their response, leaving it too late to finalise.

The clubs had agreed a transfer for the 18-year-old with a future buy-back option.

The Serbian midfielder has so far only played for Stuttgart's U-23 in the 3. Liga.

Catovic had also been linked with TSG Hoffenheim, but a move did not materialise.
