Salzburg’s captain Mads Bidstrup set to join Lyon | OneFootball

Red Bull Salzburg captain Mads Bidstrup (25) is reportedly close to joining Olympique Lyonnais, according to the Salzburger Nachrichten. A deal between the two clubs is said to be on the verge of being finalized.

Under contract with the Austrian club until 2029, the midfielder could thus represent another significant windfall for the Salzburg club’s management (he is valued at €13 million by the specialized website Transfermarkt), which has already sold Joane Gadou (19), Kerim Alajbegovic (18), and Jannik Schuster (20) for a combined total of around €45 million.

An undisputed starter for Thomas Letsch’s team, Bidstrup has started 34 of the 36 matches he has played across all competitions this season – contributing one assist. Should he sign with Lyon, the Dane could effectively replace Tanner Tessmann (24), whose departure this summer seems increasingly likely, as the American – who was not called up by Mauricio Pochettino for the World Cup – is reportedly attracting interest from the Premier League.
