Sam Fender to the rescue with cash donation after flags stolen away from St James’ Park

I went to the Sam Fender gig on Thursday night at St James’ Park, absolutely brilliant.

Another two gigs to follow and I’m envious of anybody who has tickets for them, you’ll have a great time.

These Sam Fender gigs have been supported by Wor Flags.

Just like at the Newcastle United matches, they made a great extra contribution to the occasion, the spectacle last night, by supply flags for those at the gig to wave.

Sadly, some people just can’t help themselves.

This Friday morning seeing Wor Flags reveal that many of the flags had been taken away by punters after the gig at St James’ Park.

Quite pathetic.

The good news is that Sam Fender himself has come to the rescue, making a financial donation to Wor Flags so they can replace the flags that have been taken.

However, in the short-term, it means less flags available to wave at these other two Sam Fender gigs at St James’ Park.

I know it shouldn’t have to be said but if you are going to one of these two remaining Sam Fender gigs, please don’t take away any flags afterwards and if possible, also please ‘advise’ anybody who you see doing so, to leave them be.

As to the atmosphere last night, I have just seen BBC Radio producer Gaynor Marshall has put this up on Twitter/X from last night at SJP:

If anybody (especially anyone who took a flag home last night…) would like to donate to Wor Flags…

Donate to Wor Flags HERE.

The Wor Flags ‘goal’ explained:

‘Our Goal

Wor Flags goal is straightforward – to create displays at St James’ Park that are worthy of this great club. We will achieve this in the following ways:

Larger custom design one and two poler waver flags

Large text banners featuring messages of support

Foils, surfers and custom tifos’

On behalf of everybody who visits The Mag, we signed up in summer 2022 to make a modest regular monthly donation to help fund Wor Flags and that is ongoing.

If you would like to join us and make a personal individual contribution, then please go HERE, where you can set up a monthly donation (from as little as £1 per month and upwards) to Wor Flags, or a one-off contribution.
