Samantha Longo holds first Vasco SAF talks, approves coach budget as Franclim Carvalho leads race | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, court-appointed interventora Samantha Longo held her first meetings with Vasco’s SAF executives on Thursday. She approved the budget to hire a head coach, with Botafogo head coach Franclim Carvalho the current favourite as the club tries to conclude a deal by the end of the week.

Longo spent the day at the SAF offices with CEO Fred Luz, executive director Admar Lopes and legal chief Bianca Reis. The agenda centred on urgent football needs, from appointing a coach to recruiting players.

She was also briefed on the need to strengthen the squad to leave the relegation zone quickly. Budgets for player signings have not yet been debated with her. Talks for midfielder Deossa of Real Betis are under way, though the deal is not done.

Further discussions between Admar, Fred and Bianca with Longo will shape decisions soon. The Deossa move will be weighed financially. The sporting case is complete and the player is highly rated. Talks with Betis are progressing, pending Longo’s approval on the numbers.

Vasco’s searches for a coach and reinforcements had stalled after Pedrinho left the SAF board. This week a court removed the president and two other board members at the request of 777.

Longo previously served as the CBF’s legal director from May 2022 to February 2023 and has more than 20 years in corporate law. She holds the final legal say on hires and dismissals but intends to mediate between shareholders rather than make sporting calls.
