As the saying goes, "when it rains, it pours," and never has that been more apt than for Tottenham Hotspur as their relegation fears grow further. 

Roberto De Zerbi's debut game at Sunderland has seen them fall behind via some very bad luck. 

After a relatively promising hour at the Stadium of Light which saw a penalty overturned and Antonín Kinský make some strong saves, things fell apart for Spurs. 

Sunderland right-back Nordi Mukiele cut inside, and with space opening up, took aim with a left-footed shot. 

It took a major deflection off Micky van de Ven and flew into the back of the net.

To make matters worse for De Zerbi and Spurs, captain Cristian Romero was then forced off with a possible concussion after a collision with Kinský. 

Having not won a Premier League game in 2026 and rooted in the bottom three, can someone step up to save them?
