Samuel Pierri savours Santos senior debut after Sudamericana draw with San Lorenzo | OneFootball

Samuel Pierri savoured his Santos first-team debut in the 2-2 draw with San Lorenzo at Vila Belmiro in the Sudamericana on Wednesday 20 May.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the midfielder, wearing number 81, came on 33 minutes into the second half in the competition’s fifth round.

He said the day would live long in his memory, describing a professional bow for the club he has followed since the age of 10 as the fulfilment of a dream.

Praised by coach Cuca, he had already been named in three senior squads this month, the draw with Palmeiras at Allianz Parque, the win over Bragantino at Vila Belmiro and the defeat to Coritiba at Neo Química Arena in the Brasileirão. He recently extended his contract until January 2029.

He turned 18 in January and is in his first under-20 season. He featured at the Copinha and in the Brasileiro under-20, and has trained with the first team for months, more regularly since March.

At Santos since 2018 when he was nine, Pierri has been sponsored by Nike since 2021. He has played as a 10 and an eight, and has even filled in at centre-back, though his natural role is a five. His youth honours include the Paulista under-11 title in 2019, the Paulista Cup under-12 in 2021, and the Copa Votorantim under-15 and the Nike Cup in 2023.
