San Diego Wave sign Chelsea forward Macário | OneFootball

San Diego Wave have completed the permanent signing of Chelsea forward Catarina Macário.

Wave announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 26-year-old United States international attacker has signed on with the American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club until 2030.

Macário joined Chelsea from OL Lyonnes back in summer 2023. She went on to make 59 appearances for The Blues in all competitions in which she scored 15 goals. The player won two Barclays Women’s Super League titles, two Subway Women’s League Cups and the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with Chelsea.

A return home to the United States has been on the agenda for some time for Macário and her move to San Diego Wave has now been sealed.

After joining San Diego Wave, Macário said “I’m really excited to join San Diego Wave FC and begin this next chapter of my career at home in San Diego. This city has played such an important role in my journey, and the opportunity to come back and represent it means a lot to me.

“From my first conversations with the Club, I felt the ambition and the vision for what we can accomplish together, including bringing trophies to this city. I’m grateful for the belief they’ve shown in me, and I can’t wait to get started and give everything for this team and my community.”

San Diego Wave have paid an undisclosed fee to Chelsea to secure Macário’s services.
