San Martín de Esquel debut delayed in Torneo Regional Federal Femenino | OneFootball

Heavy snow has pushed San Martín de Esquel’s first leg against Cruz del Sur to Sunday 30 August in Bariloche, with the return a week later in Esquel.

According to SuperDepor.com, the Torneo Regional Federal Femenino tie was due to start this weekend before severe conditions in Bariloche and Esquel forced a schedule change.

Head coach Matías Farías said the occasion brings uncertainty, as it is the club’s first experience at this level for him and most of the squad, with only one player having played a Federal tournament before.

He added that the delay was taken well, anxiety needs managing, and the extra time has helped them prepare, focus on the Bariloche opener and think through scenarios.

Closing at home could help or hinder, he noted, and its value will only be clear once the eliminator is over.

San Martín assessed signings but work commitments and the National Futsal schedule prevented additions, so they will go with the group that has trained since early January.

Winter work has moved to the back pitch to protect the main field before the local league returns in September, plus gym sessions and weekly work at Sambanca near Judiciales for tactics and set pieces.

Farías is assisted by César Picón, with Jorge Ricaíl in charge of fitness.

For the Bariloche trip, the team has institutional backing and support from the provincial sports department, with transport help after a meeting with Chubut Deportes and accommodation and meals covered through a reciprocity deal between the clubs.
