Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has said the club’s FA Cup semi-final winner against Leeds was ‘straight from training ground’.

Chelsea secured their place in the FA Cup final with a 1-0 win over Leeds at Wembley. Enzo Fernandez scored the crucial goal after 23 minutes, as the Argentine midfielder ghosted into the box unmarked to head home Pedro Neto’s cross. Chelsea’s opener came via a long pass forward from Sanchez, with Neto reacting quickest to the second ball.

It’s a tactic the goalkeeper said Chelsea have worked on this week under new interim head coach Calum McFarlane.

“It comes straight from the training ground. We practice it,’ Sanchez said, speaking to TNT Sports.

“They fight for the second ball. Perfect. They deserve moments like this. It’s good to give that little bit back after a tough period.

“It’s amazing. The boys reacted in the way they should have. We’ve tried to keep everyone positive in training and it’s the chance to be in another final. It’s something we’ve been working for and it’s amazing.

“I’m happy. I always try to do my job. We go through ups and downs. I’m very happy about the season I’ve had but it’s about ending it on a high. Four Premier League games to go and a final.
