Sannadi has sustained a new knee problem in Athletic’s season opener, with tests showing an issue in the proximal tibiofibular joint of his left knee. He is under assessment, and it is expected to be a contusion, with only a few days out.
According to as.com, yesterday, with Terzic in charge, he injured himself attempting an acrobatic, one-legged, Cruyff-style finish and collided with a post supporting the net. He tried to continue for a few minutes, then left the field visibly limping.
This latest problem is in the left knee, different from the right knee that was operated on. He underwent meniscus surgery on 3 November after a long-standing meniscal issue.
Following that operation, he featured only twice late in the campaign, in April against Getafe and in May against Celta. He finished the season with 11 appearances and one goal, against Sevilla on the opening day.
Signed from Alavés for a fee of four million, Sannadi arrived at San Mamés to high expectations that soon became a burden. Early displays were encouraging and even Morocco’s national team tracked his progress, but his minutes dwindled.
