Santi Valladares will not continue as Servigroup Peñíscola coach once his contract ends at the close of this season. The club said in a statement on Friday 8 May.
The Galician has decided to end his 22-year coaching career to be closer to home and family. He departs five years after arriving, having left a lasting mark on the club.
Valladares is the club’s top-flight coach with the most matches and most wins, and he met and exceeded the targets set for him. In 2023 he led Peñíscola back to the first division after a record points haul.
He then consolidated the team in the top tier and delivered results once deemed unlikely, including three consecutive Copa del Rey Final Fours. Peñíscola won the 2025 Copa de España and finished first in the regular season in the top flight.
Valladares also lifted the Supercopa Comunitat titles. His final match at the Juan Vizcarro is on Saturday 9 against Ribera Navarra at 17.00, with a tribute planned after full time. He leaves grateful for the affection he has received since joining.
