Santiago Sosa omitted by Racing and bids farewell as Vasco move nears | OneFootball

Santiago Sosa was withdrawn at the last minute from Racing’s matchday squad on Saturday as a transfer to Vasco nears.

According to Globo.com, Racing had included him in Friday’s squad list for the Argentine league game against Tigre, but all parties later agreed he would not play. Sosa is Racing’s captain and a fixture in midfield.

Minutes before kick-off at the Cilindro, he stepped onto the pitch to bid farewell. Home fans chanted his name.

Only administrative details remain for the Argentine to complete his move to Vasco. He should be the Rio club’s first confirmed signing of this window.

The clubs have agreed a fee close to seven million dollars, about R$ 35 million. Sosa will earn more than double his salary in Argentina.
