According to Globo.com, Santos paired on-field progress with a financial lift in the season restart, banking just over R$ seven million in prize money within a little more than a week.
A 1-0 win over Remo on Tuesday night sealed a Copa do Brasil quarter-final place. They also advanced to the Sudamericana last 16.
The board will use the funds to reduce two months of overdue image-rights payments to players.
The club carry more than R$ one billion in debt and are seeking fresh resources to ease severe financial strain. The prize money supports cash flow and helps avoid bigger problems.
Their Copa do Brasil run has yielded R$ nine million so far, and a semi-final would add a further R$ nine million. Santos will learn their quarter-final opponents in a CBF draw, with only Atlético-MG also confirmed through.
Sudamericana progress paid US$600,000, a little over R$ three million. The last-16 tie against Ecuador’s Macará begins on 13 at 19:00 Brasília time at Vila Belmiro, with the return on 20 in Ambato, and a quarter-final berth would pay US$700,000, a little over R$ three and a half million.
