Santos explain pre-match delay at Allianz Parque after 1-1 draw with Palmeiras | OneFootball

Santos have explained their late arrival for the pre-match protocol at Allianz Parque, saying traffic delayed the team before the 1-1 draw with Palmeiras in the 14th round of the Brasileirão on Saturday. The club said in a statement that congestion between the hotel and the stadium disrupted the schedule.

A journey that usually takes 20 minutes took roughly twice as long, which pushed back the warm-up and the walkout alongside the hosts. The delegation notified the refereeing team on arrival.

The referee’s report recorded a nine minute delay to the protocol, so the officials and Palmeiras entered without the visitors for the national anthem and initial greetings. Kick-off began at 18:32, 2 minutes late, and the second half restarted 2 minutes late as well.

The club could be reported to the STJD under Article 206 of the CBJD for causing a delay to the start or restart of a match. The penalty is a fine of R$100 to R$1,000 per minute.

Earlier this year, Santos paid fines for delays against Bahia, R$3,000, Remo, R$4,000, and Flamengo, R$2,000.
