Santos hosted São Paulo prosecutors at Vila Belmiro on Friday, 10 April, to discuss the possible end of the single-fan policy and the potential return of away supporters for matches between Santos, Palmeiras, São Paulo, Corinthians, Ponte Preta and Guarani.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Thales Cézar de Oliveira, a Prosecutor of Justice at the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office, and Daniela Hashimoto, a JECRIM, Juizado do Torcedor de São Paulo, prosecutor, visited the stadium for talks.
The single-fan measure in football stadiums reached 10 years at the start of April.
Oliveira said there is a wish to make the visitors’ return feasible. He added that they plan to speak with club presidents and the federations to test the political will, and that studies would be needed so any comeback happens with absolute safety.
Hashimoto underlined that safety and shared responsibility must guide any move. She said clubs are the first and main stakeholders in deciding whether to bring back away fans, and that their role is fundamental to perhaps build a safe model if it can happen.
Santos president Marcelo Teixeira received the authorities. Also present were vice-president Fernando Bonavides, administrative manager Luiz Fernando Vella, Deliberative Council president Fernando Akaoui and legal manager Daniel Curi.
