Santos name 24, Neymar out with muscle fatigue as Carlo Ancelotti attends | OneFootball

Santos have named 24 players for Tuesday’s trip to Mirassol in the fifth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, but Neymar misses out due to muscle fatigue. According to Globo.com, kick-off is at 21:30 Brasília time.

The fixture had been earmarked as a key audition for the No 10, with Carlo Ancelotti planning to watch in person before announcing Brazil’s squad for friendlies against France and Croatia next Monday. Despite Neymar’s absence, the Italy coach will still travel to the Maião on Tuesday night.

At the weekend, when Neymar is expected to return for a derby with Corinthians, Ancelotti will attend Botafogo v Flamengo at Nilton Santos. Assistants will be assigned to cover the Vila Belmiro derby.

Midfielder Zé Rafael is also absent with oedema in his right thigh. He will spend a few days in physiotherapy and use ice to reduce the swelling before resuming high-intensity work on the pitch.

A likely Santos XI is Gabriel Brazão, Igor Vinícius, Adonis Frías, Luan Peres and Vini Lira, Willian Arão, Gabriel Bontempo and Barreal or Thaciano, Rony or Barreal, Moisés and Gabriel Barbosa.
