Santos are hopeful Neymar could feature at Noroeste on Sunday, but any return will depend on a final session before the trip to Bauru.

According to Globo.com, he trained without limitations or pain this week and will work with the squad on Saturday morning at CT Rei Pelé, only being named if nothing changes.

With a full week alongside the group, optimism has grown for the away match at 16:00 Brasília time. The medical staff are also consulting his personal team before any call.

There had been hope of his inclusion for Wednesday’s clássico with São Paulo in the Brasileirão. With only two full sessions before the San-São, he was not ready.

Now better prepared, he could return at a pivotal point in the season. He has not played since seven December, when he featured in the win over Cruzeiro in the final round of the Brasileirão.

Santos need a win to move away from the Campeonato Paulista relegation zone. A draw, combined with a Velo Clube victory over Red Bull Bragantino, would drop the Peixe into the Série A-2 places with one round remaining.
