Santos were beaten 3-0 by Coritiba at Neo Química Arena, with player ratings laying bare a fraught afternoon. According to Globo.com, the analysis highlighted a chaotic first half that set the tone.
Lucas Veríssimo was caught out for the opener, losing the race and leaving Breno Lopes free. Escobar slipped and conceded a penalty after tripping the same forward. Mayke endured 39 torrid minutes, booed almost every touch, before an emergency change.
Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão made several stops but was repeatedly exposed. Willian Arão offered little protection and did not return after the interval.
Oliva came on before the break to stabilise the right and, after half-time, shielded midfield. Luan Peres entered but was struck in the face early in the second half, fainted and was replaced by João Ananias. Santos did not concede while Oliva or Ananias were on.
Neymar looked looser physically and linked play, yet departed early after an officiating mistake that confused him with Escobar. Moisés struggled and was replaced at half-time by Gabriel.
Barreal arrived then was sent off on 29 minutes of the second half for a flying tackle on Breno Lopes, ruling him out of at least the next match. Robinho Jr later passed up a clear chance before the 40-minute mark, shooting wide.
Head coach Cuca was marked down for his initial selection after losing a pillar in each sector. His adjustments after the break steadied the team but could not repair the first-half damage.
