Miguelito will travel to Monterrey on Friday night after Santos released him for Bolivia duty, so he will miss Cruzeiro on Sunday. The match at Mineirão kicks off at 16:00 on 22 March, the eighth round of the Brasileirão. The decision followed Cuca’s first training session in charge on Friday afternoon.

According to Diario Do Peixe, he will join La Verde for a World Cup play-off against Suriname on Thursday 26 at 19:00 Brasília time at Estadio BBVA in Mexico. Bolivia had already gathered and beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 in a friendly.

As it was not a FIFA date, Santos were not obliged to release him. He was omitted from the squad for the derby with Corinthians on Sunday 15 amid contract renewal talks, with no agreement yet and the club opting not to select him. His representatives questioned the cut because the club had initially declined to release him to Bolivia.

Santos later reversed course and named him for the match against Internacional, though he stayed on the bench.

Miguelito’s contract runs until 24 April 2027, meaning he could sign a pre-contract in October. Of last year’s loanees, he was the only one told to report back to CT Rei Pelé and has since had chances. He played eight of nine Paulistão games, assisting against Velo Clube, and has made four Brasileirão appearances.
