Santos step up talks over Miguelito contract renewal | OneFootball

Santos have intensified negotiations to renew Miguelito’s deal after his recent form earned a starting place, with talks reopened and his representatives expected in the Baixada Santista next week, according to Diario Do Peixe.

His contract runs to 24 April 2027, and from October he could sign a pre-contract elsewhere. Talks began months ago but stalled after a below-expectation offer and concerns over the sporting project. His camp remain calm and in no rush.

Enquiries keep arriving from abroad, including clubs in Türkiye, and his camp expect further interest during the window. They also believe there is time to decide before expiry, and view the club as unstable financially and in squad planning, with Miguelito potentially behind Neymar and Rollheiser.

Coach Cuca has recently spoken about broadening Miguelito’s role across positions. The player and his representatives value their bond with Santos, yet are reluctant to commit to terms that might create uncertainty over his career.

This season he has 20 appearances, one goal and three assists across the Paulistão, Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil and the Sul-Americana. He assisted against Velo Clube, scored against Vitória, and set up Gabigol versus Grêmio and Vitória.

Recalled from loan as the only returnee asked to report to CT Rei Pelé, he produced 7 goals and 5 assists in 25 Série B games for América-MG last year. He has 33 senior appearances for Santos.
