Santos will be without Neymar Jr and Gabigol for Wednesday’s Sul-Americana opener away to Deportivo Cuenca at Alejandro Serrano Aguilar in Ecuador.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Gabigol will undergo a final PRP session on Monday to treat a right adductor tendinitis, and is due to rejoin training on Wednesday at CT Rei Pelé.
Neymar recently had a knee procedure during the break and spent four or five days in recovery. He missed the Remo game and will not travel this week, focusing on specific strength, speed and endurance. His programme has been set with staff to prepare him for 13 consecutive matches and a possible World Cup call-up.
Gabriel Menino is a doubt after a grade 2 injury, around three weeks out.
Right-back Igor Vinicius, recovering from a small quadriceps oedema, and forward Rony, back from a one-match ban for a third yellow against Flamengo, will travel to rejoin training in Rio de Janeiro on Monday night. The squad will be assessed at Urca on Tuesday, with freshness a priority amid a taxing run and Atlético-MG on Saturday night.
Attacking midfielder Miguelito, who had minor discomfort treated after returning from Bolivia duty, was not involved against Flamengo and is another absentee.
