The São Paulo Court of Justice has suspended Corinthians’ General Assembly on 20 June, which had been set to vote on a reform of the club’s statute.
According to Meu Timao, desembargador Mauricio Campos da Silva Velho, da 4ª Câmara de Direito Privado do TJ-SP, granted urgent relief in an Agravo de Instrumento filed by life councillors Ademir de Carvalho Benedito, Alexandre Husni and Guilherme Gonçalves Strenger.
He cited signs of procedural breaches of the Estatuto Social, highlighting article 97, item M, which gives the Conselho de Orientação, Cori, competence to propose statute changes to the Conselho Deliberativo.
Days earlier, judge Rafael Viotti Schlobach had rejected a similar injunction. The appellants argue first instance findings wrongly equated the CD’s November 2025 recognition of a need for reform with approval of a definitive text, which they say never existed.
They also claim there was no anteprojeto before the CD, that Cori did not approve and even rejected the base text, and that the CD voted it down on 29 April, yet the proposal still advanced to members.
The judge referenced the autonomy of sporting entities under article 217 of the Federal Constitution and ordered a precautionary halt pending fuller review. TJ-SP directed immediate communication to the lower court, and the opposing party will be summoned to respond.
