São Paulo are moving to secure Marcos Antônio on a new contract after rejecting a Flamengo bid for the midfielder.

ESPN reports that São Paulo want to extend the deal to 2030 and raise the player's salary.

After completing the signing of Lucas Paquetá, Flamengo turned their focus to Marcos Antônio and offered seven point five million euros, about R$ 46.5 million, plus Allan. The proposal was refused by São Paulo.

Flamengo had already pursued the midfielder in 2024 when he was at Lazio, but no agreement was reached. He instead joined São Paulo on loan.

An obligation to buy was activated by targets met, and São Paulo paid four point two million euros, around R$ 26 million, to make the move permanent.

Flamengo are back in action on Sunday 15, facing Botafogo at 17:30 Brasília time at Estádio Nilton Santos in the Carioca quarter-finals.
