Lazio midfielder Nicolo Rovella could make his long-awaited return to the starting lineup in the Coppa Italia tie against Bologna.
The 24-year-old’s most recent start dates back to September in the Derby della Capitale against Roma, when he only lasted 45 minutes. The Regista has been struggling with a groin issue ever since. He initially opted for an alternative therapy, before succumbing to surgery when his condition didn’t improve. Since then, he only made two cameo appearances against Hellas Verona and Como.
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Maurizio Sarri could decide to hand Rovella a starting berth in the Coppa Italia quarter-final on Wednesday. The manager finds himself short of options in midfield following Toma Basic’s injury, as he remains unconvinced with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Reda Belahyane.

Therefore, the source believes Sarri could deploy Rovella in a new role on the right side of the midfield trident, while confirming Danilo Cataldi as a deep-lying playmaker, and Kenneth Taylor on the left.
While Basic has been ruled out with an injury, Mario Gila and Oliver Provstgaard (who were forced to leave the pitch in the second half against Juventus) overcame their injury scares and have already returned to training. The duo could start once more, with Adam Marusic and Luca Pellegrini completing the backline.
Finally, the attacking trident should remain intact following a convincing display in Turin. Therefore, Daniel Maldini should lead the line, flanked by Gustav Isaksen and Pedro.
Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Rovella, Cataldi, Taylor; Isaksen, Maldini, Pedro.
