The 34-year-old winger returned to Italy after a three-year spell at Toronto FC, but has yet to sign for a new club. The former Napoli captain has been keen to reunite with his former mentor Sarri, but Lazio have been prevented from signing new players since the start of the summer due to their unsettled accounts.

The Biancocelesti are hopeful of solving the situation by the end of November, when their latest financial report will be analysed by the new supervisory commission that will replace COVISOC. If it all goes according to plan, the Italian capital side would be able to sign free agents as soon as the transfer ban is lifted.

According to Il Messaggero, Sarri will once again push for Insigne’s signing, especially amidst Mattia Zaccagni’s ongoing physical problems. However, not everyone at the club shares his passion for the Euro 2020 winner.

As the source explains, Fabiani has other ideas, pitching for the revival of Tijjani Noslin. Lazio spent €18 million to buy the versatile Dutch striker from Hellas Verona in the summer of 2024, but his reunion with Marco Baroni didn’t produce the same magic as their time together at the Bentegodi.

Nevertheless, the 26-year-old tends to show flashes of brilliance, as was the case on Saturday when he won the ball back in the final minute of the contest against Torino and stormed into the box to win Lazio a spot-kick, thus salvaging a point for his team.

Fabiani believes Noslin can be a solution on the left wing while Zaccagni is out. He would be able to rotate with Pedro, who might not be fit enough to start matches at the age of 38.
